Job Description
The Broadcast Scheduler is responsible for the efficient processing and scheduling of programs for cablecast on ‘Ōlelo Community Media’s online and on-air channels. This role involves ensuring accurate and timely program scheduling, maintaining detailed scheduling records, and supporting the overall broadcast operations. The Broadcast Scheduler plays a critical role in ensuring the seamless and strategic delivery of content to our audience.
PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONISIBILITIES:
- Assign, organize, process, and schedule all program submissions and fill material. Plan and schedule programs and spots for cablecast on ‘Ōlelo channels to ensure accurate playback.
- Prepare and maintain hard copy and electronic program logs, ensuring all scheduled content is accurately documented and readily accessible.
- Correspond and communicate with the City Council representative via email and phone to schedule City Council Lives and rebroadcast airings of City Council sessions, ensuring seamless integration into the broadcast schedule.
- Notify clients of program schedule changes and/or discrepancies via email in a timely manner, providing clear and concise information to facilitate smooth operations.
- Assist Master Control with encoding/transcoding program material from multiple sources for different platforms as needed, ensuring all content is properly formatted and ready for broadcast.
- Provide impromptu or emergency coverage for Master Control when necessary, ensuring continuous and reliable broadcast operations during unforeseen circumstances.
- Provide program schedule dates four weeks in advance to publication companies such as TV Media and Gracenote for print media and on-air publication (Zap2It), ensuring accurate and timely dissemination of scheduling information.
- Upload programs and metadata information into online Video-on-Demand platform, maintaining this information regularly to ensure it is up to date.
- Works closely with other departments, including production and marketing teams to support overall broadcast objectives and troubleshoot scheduling issues.

QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School Diploma, Degree, Certificate in Communication, Computer Science, or equivalent experience.
- A minimum of one year’s experience in scheduling (trafficking) programs or high-volume accurate data entry is desirable.
- Experience with Protrack, Cablecast, or similar broadcast scheduling platforms is preferred.
- Advanced PC knowledge and experience with MS Office and database software.
- Ability to accurately type at least 45 words per minute.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Problem solving abilities and the capacity to handle scheduling conflicts.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
WORK HOURS:
This position follows a standard on-site work schedule.
