Punana Leo o Waialua (Waialua, Oʻahu): Substitute Teacher (Pani hakahaka)

Essential Functions and Basic Duties:

Relative to the learning environment and program content

Assist staff with implementing program content necessary for the delivery of the Pūnana Leo curriculum.

• Develop a basic understanding of the curriculum and the perspective in which it is grounded.
• Hone personal skills and abilities to participate in delivering a quality Punana Leo program.
• Assist in the implementation of lessons.

Relative to sites and facilities

Assist as needed with various site and facilities duties, including but not limited to the following:

• Daily meals and snacks are prepared according to guidelines.
• Day to day ssafety measures are conducted, including but not limited to the following:
  • Drills with staff and children.
  • Daily site inspections

Minimum Qualifications

• Commitment to continue Hawaiian Language learning.

Physical Requirements

• Must be able to engage in energetic learning activities with child-learners for up to 8 hours per day.
• Lift a minimum of 10 lbs.
