Manage the monthly and year-end accounting close process and ensure timely and accurate completion of general ledger reconciliations.
Configure, prepare, and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports and analyses.
Ensure revenue and expenses are recognized and recorded in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
Support grant and restricted-fund accounting and ensure expenditures are accurately recorded by grant, program, department, and funding source.
Prepare schedules and documentation for the annual financial statement audit, Single Audit, and other external reviews and maintain ongoing audit readiness.
Develop, document, implement, and monitor fiscal procedures and internal controls under the direction of the Luna Waiwai.
Assist with preparation of the annual organizational budget and ongoing budget-to-actual analysis.
Assist the Luna Waiwai with financial analysis, special projects, and other duties as necessary.
SKILLS REQUIRED
A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree is required. MBA, CPA preferred.
Knowledge of general principles of accounting and financial reporting.
A minimum of 5-7 years experience in non-profit accounting.
Ability to meet compliance and best-practice standards for finance, investment, and/or accounting.
Ability to use independent judgment and to manage and impart confidential information.
Familiarity with independent school accounting and Blackbaud Financial Edge software is preferred.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications is essential as well as working knowledge of the Google platform.
The ability to work effectively with minimal supervision, to multitask, and to manage a varied workload is essential.
Ability to work in a team environment and as an active problem-solver.
Must actively work toward becoming fluent in ʻŌlelo Hawaiʻi.
