Job Description

Summary/Objective
The Warehouse Manager is responsible for overseeing a wide variety of warehouse activities. Must be able to lead a team of  warehouse workers. Will oversee warehouse operations including shipping and receiving of raw materials and/or finished goods, maintaining inventory and associated records, record new stock as it comes in, and move stock onto trucks or store shelves as needed. Must make sure the equipment is regularly serviced and help train new employees. People management responsibilities include hiring and training, planning and assigning daily work, conducting performance appraisals, addressing performance issues, and resolving problems.

  1. Comply with federal, state, and local warehousing, material handling, and shipping requirements by studying existing and new legislation; enforcing adherence to requirements; advising management on actions needed.
  2. Develop an in-depth knowledge of Suisan Company Limited’s core products via successful completion of required warehouse training program and utilize this knowledge to successfully lead operations.
  3. Follow all Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points (HACCP), Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), and Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures (SSOP).
  4. Schedule and lead all third-party food audits.
  5. Maintains physical condition of warehouse by planning and implementing new design layouts; inspecting equipment; issuing work orders for repair and requisitions for replacement.
  6. Maintains receiving, warehousing, and distribution operations by initiating, coordinating, and enforcing program, operational, and personnel policies and procedures.
  7. Manage warehouse staff by creating an effective schedule, minimizing overtime and pushing productivity.
  8. Partner with Warehouse Inventory Team (WIT) on investigating discrepancies and taking appropriate corrective action.
  9. Maintain physical condition of warehouse by inspecting materials, equipment and building issues.  Placing work orders to replace and repair damaged areas.
  10. Plan and monitor for adequate storage space and maximizing efficiencies with product slotting analysis.
  11. Must educate and train staff on Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP) plan to ensure Warehouse policies and procedures follow the stated Standard Operating Procedure (SOP)
  12. Prepare and maintain a variety of records and logs and prepare reports as required; maintain inventory of items in the warehouse; file records as required.
  13. Monitor automated warehousing system; operate a computer to enter data, correct errors and control key screens as required.
  14. Operate and demonstrate use of specialized warehouse equipment as necessary; assure proper and routine maintenance and servicing of warehouse vehicles and equipment.
  15. Conduct periodic “walk” inspections with a member of the Executive team and Safety.
  16. Observe health and safety regulations; maintain warehouse in a clean, safe and orderly condition. 
  17. Assist management in establishing warehouse standards and procedures; advise of budget-related needs.
  18. Train, supervise and evaluate the performance of assigned warehouse employees; assign workloads to warehouse workers.
  19. Organize workflow to meet deadlines.
  20. Ability to work safely and follow all safety policies and procedures.
  21. Wear all required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to ensure a safe work environment.
  22. Respond to all e-mail correspondence and phone messages in a timely manner.
  23. Perform other duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibility This position serves as a direct supervisor to Warehouse Receiving Supervisors, Will Call Supervisor, and the Warehouse Office Clerks.

Work Environment

This job operates in a professional office and warehouse floor environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. This role also routinely uses standard warehouse equipment such as pallet jacks, hand trucks, and forklifts. Must be able to perform work at various heights, up to but not limited to 15 feet above the ground.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is an exempt (salary) position.  Work schedule will be based on operational needs.  May require working overtime and holidays per direction of Management.

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, the individual must be able to perform each essential duty and responsibility in a safe and satisfactory manner.  Work under minimal supervision, apply logic and reasoning to solve complex problems, use sound judgement and discretion in performing work duties. Requires excellent written and oral communications skills. Ability to listen, persuade, and influence skills in dealing with all levels of employees, clients and vendors.

Physical DemandsThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; requires activities involving being around moving machinery, exposure to marked changes in temperature and humidity, and exposure to dust, fumes, and gases. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs on a regular basis and up to 75 lbs on occasion.

Required Education and Experience

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • 10 years of warehousing experience with 5 years (minimum) supervisory/managerial level experience.

Preferred Education and Experience

  • Knowledge of warehouse processes.
  • Desire to learn and grow.
  • Must have attention to detail, excellent customer service, and front of the line support.
  • Ability to balance and prioritize multiple tasks.
