Associate Director, Office of Evangelization and Catechesis

Overall Responsibility: The Associate Director assists the Director of the Office of Evangelization and Catechesis in promoting a living and personal relationship with Christ. The Associate Director’s primary responsibilities will focus on young adult and adult evangelization and catechesis.

Reports to: Director of the Office of Evangelization and Catechesis Classification: Exempt

Duties & Responsibilities:

· Provide resources and consultation on evangelization and catechesis for young adult ministry, including college campus ministry, and adult faith formation

· Offer leadership formation and training for ministry leaders, focusing on evangelization and catechesis

· Assist parishes to identify opportunities, acquire resources and plan formats and programs/ministry for young adult and adult formation within their established settings and ministries

· Assist with adult faith formation, leadership formation, and training sponsored by the Office of Evangelization and Catechesis

· Collaborate with the ministry areas of the Office of Evangelization and Catechesis, particularly, the Diocesan Evangelization Task Force and Stewardship

· Collaborate with the Office of Worship, Hawaii Catholic Herald, Hawaii Catholic Schools, and local college campus ministries in areas relevant to young adult and adult evangelization and catechesis

· Involvement in regional and national conferences and meetings when possible

· Build and maintain collaborative relationships at all levels of ministry

· Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:

· Practicing Catholic in good standing required

· Graduate degree in theology, catechetics, religious studies or related field with 3-5 years experience at the parish or diocesan level

OR

· Bachelor’s degree in theology, catechetics, religious studies or related field with 8-10 years experience at the parish or diocesan level

· Intermediate computer skills, familiarity with various forms of social media, and general computer literacy

Other Job Requirements:

Physical requirements:

· Bending, stooping, reaching, twisting, lifting, pushing, pulling and moving items.

Scheduling and travel requirements:

· Entails periodic evening and weekend work.

· Requires periodic travel to coordinate the programs on all islands

· Valid driver’s license required.
