Job Description
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

The Scale house Weighmaster is responsible for safely directing trucks to scale and records weights and compiles record of weights. Record and input data using transfer scale for inbound and outbound refuse material. Calculates and checks load and ensures the safety of the drivers and other employees through observation of safety rules and regulations.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Weigh trucks in and out of facility according to company policy. Maintains detailed and accurate records of loads and communication of possible scale and trucking issues to correct direct Supervisor(s).
  • Accurately input weights into waste management software system (Encore).
  • Correctly manages required documentation for incoming and outgoing loads to ensure that tickets are verified for numbers, dated and time accuracy.
  • Monitor scheduled inspections and complete scale reports.
  • Exercise proper care and maintenance of company equipment
  • Completes tasks including regular filing and completes required reports.
  • Ensures that drivers and staff conduct business in a safe manner Adhere to all OSHA rules and regulations at all times and wear proper safety equipment while on location. Meet or exceed company safety standards.
  • Performs housekeeping duties to ensure that scale house is clean and orderly. Order office supplies and equipment as needed.
  • Keeps immediate supervisor fully informed of all problems or matters requiring his/her attention.
  • Approaches all encounters with employee, neighbors, and vendors in a friendly, service-oriented manner.
  • Ability and motivation to meet the requirements of the job, which may include extended hours and irregular schedules. Attends company sponsored training and meetings as directed.

SUPPORTIVE FUNCTIONS

In addition to the performance of the essential functions, this position may be required to perform of combination supportive functions as assigned.

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Regularly sit and occasionally stand and walk.
  • Regularly use hands to finger, handle, feel; reach with hands and arms, regularly talk and hear
  • Occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds.
  • Vision abilities include close, peripheral, and ability to adjust focus.
  • Required to use motor coordination with finger dexterity (such as keyboarding, machine operation, etc.) part of the workday.
  • Required to use computers, tablets, other devices, during the workday.
  • Required to learn new programs, technology and support devices as assigned.
  • Required to be exposed to physical environment which involves dirt, odors, weather or similar elements part of the workday and noise level is moderate.

WORK HOURS

Start time begins 5am and working can be up to 8-10+ hours daily. Due to the responsibilities of this position, day, and weekend works hours may be required. Note: Start time represents a general guideline and hours worked will vary based on operational needs.

COMMUNICATION DEMANDS

  • Requires visual, verbal, and written communication with supervisor, coworker, and others.
  • Read, write, and comprehend in English.
  • Must be able to communicate using tablets, phones or other devices as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

Skills/Knowledge:

  • Ability to read, write, comprehend, and speak English.
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Strong communications skills with Supervisors and Peers.
  • Providing information by telephone, in written form, e-mail.
  • Ability to solve problems within scope of responsibility.
  • Basic/occasional use of 365 Office
Education/Experience:

  • Education: High School Diploma or G.E.D
  • Valid Driver’s License.
  • Within 60 days of hire:
  • Weighmaster training
  • Weighmaster License
  • OSHA Safety training
  • • Encore Training


REQUIREMENTS

  • Valid Hawaii driver's license
  • Clean Driver History Record
  • Must have reliable transportation to work.
  • Requires maintaining a reliable work schedule.
  • Ability to learn Spotter signals and training and demonstrate proper use in the field.

Upon employment, all employees are required to comply with WOA rules and regulations for safe and efficient operation. Employees who violate WOA rules and regulations will be subject to disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment.
