American Floor and Home (formerly known as American Carpet One Floor and Home) is looking for a Staff Accountant. In this role, you’ll play a key part in supporting the month-end close, maintaining general ledger accuracy, and preparing financial reports that help drive smart business decisions.

What You’ll Do:
As a Staff Accountant at The Carpet Shoppe, you’ll play a critical role in managing the accounts payable function across our multi-location, inventory-focused flooring and installation business. This isn’t just data entry — you’ll take full ownership of AP processes, support accurate job costing, and help drive improvements in our accounting workflows.
Your responsibilities will include:
Managing the full accounts payable cycle, from invoice entry to payment and reconciliation
Matching invoices to POs, receiving logs, freight allocations, and job costing codes
Preparing weekly payment runs while maintaining accurate cash flow alignment
Reconciling vendor statements and resolving payment discrepancies and aged balances
Serving as the main point of contact for vendors regarding payments and billing
Preparing AP-related journal entries and accruals during month-end close
Ensuring compliance with W-9s, 1099 reporting, and use tax requirements
Supporting audits through organized documentation and timely responses
Collaborating cross-functionally with purchasing, warehouse, service, and sales teams
Recommending improvements to AP processes and supporting internal controls
Assisting with reconciliations, reporting, and special projects as needed
Providing training and guidance to internal teams on invoice workflows and coding practices
What We’re Looking For:
We’re seeking a reliable and detail-oriented accounting professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment. You’ll be a great fit if you’re proactive, process-minded, and comfortable working with cross-functional teams.
Education & Experience
Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business, or a related field (preferred)
3–5 years of experience in accounting or AP, ideally in construction, retail, or a materials-based business
Experience in a multi-location or multi-entity environment is a plus
CAPP (Certified Accounts Payable Professional) certification is a bonus
Skills & Competencies
Solid understanding of AP workflows and accounting principles
Familiarity with job costing, subcontractor invoicing, inventory, and freight
Strong Excel skills and comfort with ERP/accounting systems (RFMS experience is a plus)
Excellent attention to detail, time management, and organizational skills
Strong communication skills and the ability to work across departments
Good judgment, professionalism, and the ability to manage confidential information

Location:
This is an in-person position based on the island of Oahu (County of Honolulu), Hawaii. While we welcome applicants from all locations, candidates must be available to work on-site in Oahu. Team members are required to work on-site regularly on a weekly basis. Occasional travel off-site for events, vendor meetings, or training may be required.
Compensation and Benefits:
This is a full-time, exempt, “at-will” position, typically requiring 40 hours per week. Salary range: $45,000 - $65,000, based on market data, skills, and experience. Comprehensive benefits are also provided.
