Job Description

 


Maui Hub, a values-driven organization with huge growth potential and wide community support, is looking for the right person to provide leadership through the next phases of growth. This is an excellent opportunity for someone to join an organization dedicated to improving food security, ensuring equitable access to healthy food, and supporting a large-scale increase of regenerative food production.


To be most effective, the General Manager should have a collaborative leadership style and an ability to manage multiple projects while maintaining an openness to changing situations and opportunities. Food hub or CSA, supply chain, or distribution experience is highly desirable.


The General Manager will be responsible for overseeing the overall operations of Maui Hub and ensuring its financial sustainability and will work in partnership with the Board of Directors to implement growth-related goals, project management, long range planning, and budgeting. 


GENERAL MANAGER RESPONSIBILITIES


Ensure that Maui Hubʻs operations and direction are in line with itʻs organizational values and its mission, which serve as a compass for operations.

  • Assist farmers in accomplishing their goals of increasing food production through regenerative practices

  • Ensure equitable access to local food for all Maui residents, including our most vulnerable


Implement communication/marketing strategies to:

  • Increase impact of Maui Hub 

  • Increase public awareness of importance to eat/shop local

  • Focus on slow, steady consumer behavior change


Maintain collaborative and respectful feedback loop between operations team, producers and board of directors on production, challenges, goals, etc.


Work with Board of Directors to ensure compliance with all relevant reporting and legal requirements.



PEOPLE MANAGEMENT/HR


Communicate with operations team to ensure efficient, high-quality producer and customer service, and roll-out of additional services/programs. 

  • Recruit, lead, motivate, and mentor a diverse, high-performing, and values-driven team. Support a culture of collaboration, learning, effective communication, and impact with a dedication to Maui Hubʻs mission.

  • Create and promote a positive, inclusive, productive work culture with responsive and clear communication, upfront expectations, and effective staff onboarding

  • Reports to Board of Directors, and oversees a staff of 6-7 

  • Work with Board of Directors to establish foundational Human Resources procedures to ensure long term well being of the organization 


FINANCE


Develop and execute strategies to ensure the financial sustainability of Maui Hub.

Manage the implementation of grant-funded work, and work with Board of Directors to submit compliance reports

  • Ensure compliance (in spending and reporting) with all grant agreements and that funds are spent in an efficient and timely manner.


Work with Board on creating a budget and ensure compliance with budget. Maintain a feedback loop about needs and other budget details with the board.


Ensure financial good standing of the organization.


Review weekly/monthly/quarterly sales data records with Board of Directors. Identify trends and potential areas for growth.


Ensure timely customer billing, producer payments, bookkeeping, accounts receivable, and all other financial matters.


SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATES WILL BRING:


5+ years of demonstrated leadership experience in business management. Some experience in marketing is valued.

Experience in food distribution highly desired.

Exceptional interpersonal skills and collaborative mindset.

Experience in budget development & financial management.

Flexibility and dedication to continuous improvement and innovation.
