Job Description
Island School seeks an Athletic Trainer with a commitment to the health and development of student athletes. The athletic trainer works with student athletes to address injury and injury prevention, attends Island School athletic events during the evening and weekend to support student athlete care, teaches subject specific elective classes, supports health and physical education, and reports to the Athletic Director and Upper School Division Director for classes. This is a 50% to full-time role. Compensation based on years of experience and credentials: $55,000-$60,000 FTE, benefits included. Full-time role includes teaching.


The successful candidate should have the ability to communicate effectively with colleagues, be detail oriented, and a desire to be part of an independent school community. Candidates should have a strong work ethic, adaptability, generous spirit, desire to work together with a team, and confident working with others. 5+ years of relevant work experience preferred.

Minimum Qualifications include:

  • Experience working with coaches and middle to high school students on prevention from and care of injuries
  • Experience working with high school students, including teaching health or other related classes
  • Ability to calmly address a situation where a student athlete may be injured
  • Ability to communicate with colleagues and students via email, phone, and in person
  • All athletic trainer certifications up-to-date
  • References from a previous employer(s) certifying reliability and satisfactory performance
  • Strong work ethic, adaptability, generous spirit, and confidence working with other adults and students alike
