Accounts Payable/Accounts Receivable Specialist

Our established company is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Accounts Payable/Accounts Receivable clerk to join our finance team. This position plays a critical role in maintaining the financial integrity of our operations by ensuring accurate and timely processing of all payables and receivables. The ideal candidate will possess strong organizational skills, demonstrate proficiency in accounting software, and exhibit a commitment to maintaining precise financial records in a fast-paced transportation environment.

Responsibilities:

- Process and manage accounts payable transactions, including invoice verification, coding, and entry into the accounting system
- Process and manage accounts receivable transactions, including invoice generation, payment application, and customer account maintenance
- Perform regular reconciliation of accounts payable and accounts receivable ledgers to ensure accuracy and completeness
- Maintain organized filing systems for all financial documents, invoices, receipts, and supporting documentation in accordance with company policies and regulatory requirements
- Enter financial data accurately and efficiently into accounting systems while maintaining attention to detail
- Monitor aging reports for both payables and receivables and follow up on outstanding items as necessary
- Communicate professionally with vendors, customers, and internal departments regarding account status and payment inquiries
- Assist with month-end and year-end closing procedures
- Prepare and distribute regular reports on accounts payable and accounts receivable activities
- Ensure compliance with company procedures and generally accepted accounting principles

Requirements:

- Proven experience in accounts payable and accounts receivable functions
- Demonstrated proficiency in Sage accounting software
- Demonstrated proficiency in QuickBooks accounting software
- Strong reconciliation skills with the ability to identify and resolve discrepancies
- Excellent organizational abilities and meticulous attention to detail
- Proficient data entry skills with a high degree of accuracy
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a dynamic environment
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel
- Understanding of basic accounting principles and practices
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive financial information
